"Woo! You talked her down, good going," Tess says, excited that the situation has so quickly turned in their favor. Less target practice, but if it means we don't take as many hits, it's worth it. "With their engines down, this should be a short fight," she continues, eager to unleash her own guns on the target.

Cass lets out a hoarse yawp as their captain talks down the more reasonable of the two. "That was a damn good salvo," he admits, reading sensor data on the Kyo Maru's engines. "They're fucked. They have to fight, now, or surrender."

He turns to Hikaru. "This guy's a psycho, but is he suicidal, too? Maybe he'll back down as well. We're still running with some heat we took from those Diktat fighters," the engi reminds the crew. "One good hit from that plasma beam from the Kyo and we're fucked."

Eyeing Max, Cass shrugs. "And don't ask about it. It's a long story."

"Shouldn't be hard for me to lock onto them when they're dead in the water like that," Tess responds, at Cass's comment about the plasma beam. "Right now their options are limited while we just gained a large advantage over them. Hopefully they back down, but if not then maybe a second hit will change their minds."

Hikaru feels immense relief, beaming widely as he successfully talks the space pirate down. He watches, almost in awe, as the Blackstar fires upon the Kyo Maru and disables it engines. "Goddamn, the pop star says. He laughs, taking a deep breath now that he's made this job much easier. "Can't believe that worked. But we're not out of the water yet." He dons his own helmet, tucking his messy hair away from his eyes, and sits up straight. "Let's get ready for a fight, since I doubt a fuck like him is gonna back down without a fight." He looks to Cass, understanding the engineer's concern, but hoping to alleviate it some. "It's a civilian ship, and less armored than the Blackstar, so we'll see how much fire they can take compared to us. And now they've got two targets."

The Kyo Maru responds to the betrayal of its sister ship. Unable to maneuver effectively, it opens fire in an all out assault firing on both attacking ships with its plasm beam. Already turning to evade - the Blackstar manages to dodge the beam, however the Makkuro is less lucky and takes a hit.

The damage bounces the ship around and several warnings sound the alarm on your consoles. The ship's computer quickly comes back with a damage report; reporting light hull damage and the disabling of your own plasma beam.

Cass grits his teeth as their ship is rocked by the blast from the Kyo Maru, immediately flicking through their hazard monitoring to find their main weapon down. "Yeah. I'm on it, Cap. Do me a favor? Once I'm down there, read me off these damaged component codes, yeah?" He points across his screen, displaying the several main mechanisms that make up their plasma beam. He taps a finger one of them and the monitor zooms in to a finer view, breaking down the individual components within, each labeled alphanumerically. A few of them show angry warnings like DISABLED, DAMAGE CRITICAL.

Grabbing his metatool, Cass steps out of the ops room into the hallway outside. Working quickly, he pulls away a few of the panels exposing the inner parts. "Alright capitano, give it to me. Okay. Okay. Okay. Wait, back one. No, other one. Slow down, ke? You're killing me, Glitter. Okay. Okay, perfect. Got it, thanks."

As your shots go wide, the Blackstar makes its own attack run on the Kyo Maru. Their laser strikes the ship's plasma beam, knocking it out, while their hull is battered by flak fire. The Kyo Maru's crew work quickly to restore their weapon though and you soon become aware of its operational status as the ship opens fire on you once more, although the beam fails to strike its target this time.

Relieved as their plasma beam is repaired, Hikaru feels like he can breathe again. "Nice work, but let's keep it up." He looks to Tess, hoping the pressure isn't building on her. "You've got this, Tess. Just imagine you're at a party and the Kyo Maru spills some shrimp cocktail all over your expensive dress. He taps through his panels, watching their fuel burn, the cooling on their armaments, and checking on several hull damage warnings. Eh, nothing we can't get refitted back at Asteria. Though maybe we should take it easy if those dockworkers are still on strike, unless I want to spend a week doing EVAs with a blowtorch. He sighs, knowing he'd do it anyways if he needed to. Hearing the words of encouragement, Tess can't help but to smile. "Thanks, that's just the motivation I needed," she says with a chuckle, as she pulls up the targeting systems once more. She fires two shots of the plasma beam in quick succession, both aimed at the enemy's own beam, and both hit their marks. As she watches the destruction of the Kyo Maru's only weapon, she opens communications to them and says, "you guys might want to rethink your plan, now," before giving them a wink and closing comms again.

As the second plasma beam shot rakes the Kyo Maru the ship's engines cut out. The Makkuro's systems show the Kyo Maru's reactor has failed from the damage and is likely to go critical. The powerless ship drifts through space, slowly beginning to spin as it vents atmosphere from damaged bulkheads.

The Blackstar also ceases firing as you cripple your foe, although the ship hangs back from the Kyo Maru not showing any intent to board her just yet. After a few moments, you receive a hail from the surviving pirate ship and Captain Malik reappears on your screen, still fully suited up with her helmet on.

"Makkuro, I claim this salvage as mine. I'm sure whatever deal you have with Asteria will be compensating you fairly, sasa ke?" she says with a slight smile. "I'll buy you a round of drinks if I run into you back on the station," she adds, before cutting her feed.

"Ace shot!" Cass cries, pumping a fist as Tess sinks a shot into the Kyo Maru's armament, then lets out a whoop as she does it again.

"Gotta admit, pretty brutal how quick they'll turn on their associates, help shoot them down, and then salvage their tub clean to the frame," he says, taken aback by Malik's relative nonchalance about the entire endeavor. But hey, I guess we get a round, on her? Fucking weird, man.

"Good shot, T-T-Tess! You did it!" Eridas says over the comms, trying to force himself down from his excitement. He collapses back in his chair, laughing to himself a bit as he closes his eyes. "Damn, that was good." He says, gently patting the ship.

"Thanks, guys," Tess responds, feeling genuinely proud of herself for managing to land two difficult shots in a row. I guess the whole shooting people for a gang thing finally came in handy for something. Would be nice if we weren't stuck shooting our way out of so many situations lately, though.

Opening comms to the Blackstar, she sends a short message that says "I'll keep an eye out for you," before giving Malik a wink. Once she hits 'send' she turns to the others, facing Hikaru specifically, before saying, "well, with that out of the way, seems like it's time we give the ones on the station a visit. Does our lovely captain want to do the honors and send them a tight beam?"

"If this guy isn't a suicidal dipshit, he'll want to bargain his freedom. Maybe we force him to pick — either his second-in-command gets to leave, or he does. You know? Make it a choice, instead of an open-ended discussion."

Cass sighs, stretching his hands behind his head as he reclines in his flight seat. Better that than try to trade shots on foot. But if we do, I'm standing behind the big guy, he considers, eyeing Max.

Hikaru beams as Tess successfully lands her shot, managing to disable their foe and leave them dead in the water. Damn, they're fucked now. "That alone calls for celebration once we get this taken care of. Fancy dinner, anyone?" He breathes a sigh of relief, though it only lasts for a moment as he remembers Hartjen is still on the surface. He crosses his arms, tapping his fingers on them. "As tempting as leaving that psycho stranded is, it's better to take care of him while we have the upper hand." He smirks for a moment. "I've seen enough movies to know a fuck like that would go across the universe to get his revenge."

He thinks for a moment and then turns to Tess. "I could, but then we'd lose the element of surprise, and maybe our good friend Captain Malik knows where he is." The pop star shrugs at Cass's suggestion. "Could work, but taking out both could be better if we can." He switches his comms on, sending a quick message to the Blackstar"Blackstar, we're thinking of paying your former colleague a visit on the surface. Got any clue where we might find him?"

"They want the station back and we just got rid of their only means to defend it," Tess says, as the discussion of what to do next progresses. "If Malik can confirm they don't have any ground weapons capable of piercing our hull, we could just dock and give them an ultimatum. What are they going to do against a frigate when they have no ship?"

Malik reappears a few moments after Hikaru's message, her helmet now off. Looking on your scopes you can see two people in vacc suits exiting the Blackstar beginning an EVA, presumably to investigate the disabled Kyo Maru. "They've been doing something down in the mines so they're probably down there. I thought we'd just be taking their next shipment but Hartjen seems to have other plans. There's only one entrance to the outpost though - here," she says, forwarding you a set of coordinates on the asteroid, before cutting off the feed once more.

Zooming in on the rock at the coordinates you can see three manmade elements jutting out from the rock. One is a large hanger door which would fit a shuttle or cargo lighter. To its left is a small door for EVAs or larger ships to dock to. Then to the right a small metal and glass structure, likely a rudimentary comms or traffic control station for organising incoming and outbound cargo flights.

"Guess it won't be as easy as just blasting them from orbit," Hikaru says, sighing slightly as he looks over the coordinates. "If they're down in the mines, we might try to dock and take them by surprise if we can, yeah?" He looks over his companions, wondering if any have any better ideas.

Cass grits his teeth, considering their vulnerability on foot and away from the Makkuro. Didn't think the job would end with us gunning it out with these clowns.

"Here's hoping they don't already have an ambush ready for us," he warns. "Max, guess your fancy sword is going to see some use, then."

Eridas looked around at the others, mildly worried about leaving their ship mostly unguarded in a mysterious place. "Lets go, I'm ready." He says, grabbing his rifle which he had hidden. "I d-don't think I'll need this, but I might." He nods at Cass, smirking."

"We'll need every gun we can get," Cass says, not quite confident enough about his chance for survival to return the pilot's smirk. "Speaking of, Cap, you should take my spare pistol. I'm bringing my new rifle."

Hikaru gulps slightly at Cass's mention of him taking the handgun, but he sighs and nods. "You're probably right. Being a liability isn't exactly my style," he says with a smirk, somewhat nervous but trying to keep the nerves down. Just gotta pretend it's like a video game... Except I fucking suck at shooters. He takes a deep breath, looking to the pilot. "Guess it's now or never. Take us in."

"They're easy," Tess responds, as she notices Hikaru's apprehension holding the pistol. "Just point at the other person and pull the trigger. And, you know, keep a good grip." It only takes a possible life-and-death scenario to get him to finally face his fear. Who knows, maybe he'll like it and we can go shooting together.

"You can't really fuck up when it comes to laser-based small arms," Cass explains with an optimistic shrug. "It's not like your average rifle or revolver, where the recoil and ricochet is dangerous. I'll show you when we gear up in the armory. Worst case scenario, you just hold it and look like you know how to use it, even if you don't."

You spend a few minutes gearing up on the Makkuro, before Creed takes the helm once more and brings the ship in towards the asteroid base. Once in position you extend the Makkuro's boarding tube which locks against the base's smaller access door, creating an airtight seal. Making your way across the tube's walkway, you reach the asteroid outpost's airlock and find that it has been broken. While the door can still open and close, functioning as an airlock, all of its security features have been bypassed allowing access to anyone - presumably by Harjen's team.

Stepping inside and opening the inner airlock door, you find yourselves in a small room. A vacc suit stands against one wall on a harness of some kind, while around the room their are various lockers and a work station. The station is silent save for the hum of the air recyclers and the click of your magnetic boots, keeping you to the station's floor in the low gravity environment.

Ahead of you is another larger door which leads deeper into the mining outpost.

Feel free to equip whatever armor/weapons you want (within the encumbrance rules) in the time before docking with the outpost. The outpost has air and is unlikely to depressurize due to being built into the asteroid so vacc suits aren't required.

As they edge towards the outpost, Cass performs a tactical checklist of his arms and armor. It's what the jarheads do, he considers, remembering the practice boarding drills he helped run ops on, while serving in the League Navy. I think, at least. Slipping his laser pistol from his locker, he weighs it in his hands. Served me well on Idarete, but I think it's time to graduate.

"Here you go, Cap." The engineer hands the laser pistol over to Hikaru gently. "It won't shoot until you disengage the safety mode. Just, uh, remember to do that. Right here," he says, tapping the display and pointing at a holo-button labeled ARM that appears above it.

He ditches the vacuum suit, opting to wear the armored undersuit that Eridas had given him. It fits snugly beneath his Furious Midnight jumpsuit, and he frowns. "Feels kinda weird, wearing this shit. We should drop some of that cred for crew gear as soon as we find a vendor. Hell, give me and my workbench some time and I could probably drum something up." With his trusty new laser rifle in tow, he prepares to breach the outpost.

While the ship docks, Tess takes the time to remove her vacc suit and stow it in her backpack for later, if needed. She grabs her rifle from her room and loads it with one bullet, just in case. If we can get Hartjen before the others have time to react, maybe the rest will stand down and not fight back.

Back in her usual outfit, she loads up her guns and her bag and heads into the airlock with the others. "Some nice, cat-themed outfits, right?" Tess asks Cass, at the mention of their outfits. "We can get cat ears for everyone, it will be great. Though some of us will pull them off better than others," she continues, chuckling to herself. "We certainly need something more comfy than what the Idarete Navy made. I need a hoody that doesn't make me feel like I have fleas."

Stepping up to the door leading further in, Tess draws her mag pistol and presses her ear up, trying to see if she can hear any signs from nearby. Hopefully whatever they are doing has them distracted, and we aren't stepping into an ambush.

"Right," Hikaru says, uncomfortably handling the pistol. He takes a deep breath, trying to steady himself. It's just an arcade gun. It's just an arcade gun, he tries to tell himself. He joins the others in removing his vacc suit, stretching his limbs after being confined in the clunky suit. As his friends mention better crew gear, the pop star shrugs. "We'll have the credits to burn, so might as well. Something comfortable and stylish, without sacrificing too much function, yeah?"

He smirks at Tess, chuckling lightly. "Cat ears, huh? Been there, done that, and I look cute as fuck." He flashes a candid smile, stepping slightly behind her as they make their way towards the door. "Remind me to show you that commercial sometime." He takes another breath, some nervousness returning as he clutches the pistol. "But let's get this over with first. Cautiously, yeah?"

Hopefully, this won't come to any bloodshed. Surely, this man would give in seeing it's five against one.

Max proceeds to take point, with his greatsword at the ready.

Important Features
[SHOW]
Shocking Assault Level 1: Gain Punch or Stab as a bonus skill. The Shock damage of your weapon treats all targets as if they were AC 10, assuming your weapon is capable of harming them in the first place.

Telekinetic Manipulation: The adept may Commit Effort for the scene as a Main Action to direct telekinetic force toward an object or person within unaided visual range or with tactile contact with the psychic. This force isn’t responsive enough to be effective as a weapon without further refinement of technique, and cannot cause damage to living or mobile targets. If used to crush or harm immobile unliving objects, it does 1d6 damage per skill level of the psychic per round of focus. Objects move at 20 meters per round when moved telekinetically.
xxxxA telekinetic force can be maintained over multiple rounds without expending further actions, such as holding a metal platform in place under a group of allies, but the psychic cannot again activate this technique on a second object until they release the first.
xxxxLevel-1: The psychic can manipulate objects as if with both hands and can lift up to two hundred kilograms with this ability.

Telekinetic Armory: The adept may Commit Effort as an On Turn action to create both weapons and armor out of telekinetic force. These weapons are treated as tech level 4 and act as a rifle or any advanced melee weapon. Attack rolls can use either Dexterity, Wisdom, or Constitution modifiers, and may use the Telekinesis skill as the combat skill.
xxxxArmor may be created as part of this power, granting the psychic a base Armor Class equal to 15 plus their Telekinesis skill level. This armor does not stack with conventional armor, but Dexterity or shields modify it as usual. The gear continues to exist as long as the psychic chooses to leave the Effort committed, and they may be invisible or visible at the psychic’s discretion.

Hinetic Transversal: The adept may Commit Effort as an On Turn action to move freely over vertical or overhanging surfaces as if they were flat ground, crossing any solid surface strong enough to bear five kilos of weight. They can also move over liquids at their full movement rate. This movement ability lasts as long as the Effort is committed.

Pressure Field: As an Instant action, the adept can manifest a protective force skin around their person equivalent to a vacc suit, maintaining pressure and temperature even in hard vacuum conditions. They can ignore temperatures at a range of plus or minus 100 degrees Celsius and automatically pressurize thin atmospheres for breathability, or filter particulates or airborne toxins. By Committing Effort for the scene, they can shield up to six comrades. This lasts until the user reclaims the Effort.

"Trying to say I'm not the picture of threatening?" Hikaru says to Cass, smirking and holding back a chuckle. "The label execs tried that once. Turns out I look stupid in black leather and spikes." Also looked more like a bad porn star than anything... He shakes his head, trying to erase the thought from his mind. He gestures forward, saying, "Lead the way."

"Everyone looks stupid in black leather and spikes," Cass says with an understanding shrug.

Nodding toward Max, he gets ready to breach the door. Hope these psychos didn't lay a trap.

"I think I could pull it off," Tess responds, looking down towards her leather jacket she is usually wearing and shrugging. "But no, Hikaru definitely cannot. I don't think I've ever been less intimidated," she says with a smirk.

You hit the door's control panel and the door slides open revealing a longer room full of storage containers of a variety of sizes. To your left is another larger door, which likely leads into the outpost's main hanger based on its position relative to the hanger door on the surface. Past the containers, towards the back of the room are two smaller doors. The stations remains quiet, with no noise to indicate that Hartjen and his team are nearby.

"Hmm...a fork in the road. Any preferences, or should we flip a coin?"

As he says this, Max moves to take a peek inside one of the containers at random.

Max finds the small containers, for the most part, devoid of any locks, and is able to flip them open easily. The first two he opens contain sealed packages of food and and other consumables - supplies for the outpost's staff. The third crate he inspects is plastered with warning symbols and is locked with an electro magnetic lock. The largest and most prominent warning reads,

Warning
Mining Charges
Handle With Care

"Well if this ends in a lot of bloodshed, that food will be nice to snag for the Makkuro," Tess says with a shrug as the containers are opened. "Though hopefully it won't come to that. We should take the smaller door first," she continues, at Max's question. "That is likely not the main route further in, so good to make sure we don't have anyone hiding at our flank when we proceed deeper in." Having someone at our flanks is for later, once we've succeeded. Maybe Pia or Martine will be more open next time, she thinks, sighing as she remembers here earlier failure.

"Try not to take anything unless we need it," Cass warns as they look around. "I know Hartjen and his crew have probably stripped this place clean, but I don't want Holland skimming our pay because we wanted to snack on shitty rockminer rations."

He points his gun toward the smaller door, nodding at Tess' instruction. She's got a tactical mind, he considers. That's... pretty hot.

"Ready," the engi says to Max.
