"That we do," Michel says to Varo, pleased that the drunkard so easily spilled the information. "Our best bet at learning who he is among the four may be seeking out Gauthier."
Larkin turned to stare dramatically into the distance.
"The flow of life brings you to unexpected places," she murmured, her eyes growing unfocused as she feigned seriousness. It would have helped if there was some kind of wind that whipped her hair from her face.
She shook her head. "Unfortunately, I fear I will likely move away before long as well. It was never my plan to live in Arenport," Larkin said wryly.
"Ah, that is a shame," the man says, as they continue moving down the path. "It is a good city, and it would be a shame to lose a lady as fine as yourself." As they get towards the center of the garden, they come across a large fountain dominating the landscape. It is made of marble and has many interesting reliefs carved along its edge, telling stories from the city's past and Imardanian folklore. The centerpiece of the fountain is a statue of Juliana Aren, the city's founder and one of the early disciples of Elys and the religion of the Goddess.
As they look upon the fountain, the man continues. "Though you needn't worry about living in Arenport much longer," he says, before producing a small metal club from a hidden portion of his trousers, immediately taking a powerful swing at the woman. The attack comes swiftly and from out of nowhere, the man's polite demeanor faded and replaced by a crazed look.
