Making for the back right corner alcove of the bar, you find a man sat there, busy prepping a plastic inhaler device of some kind that appears to contain a thick golden coloured substance. The small table in front of him is littered with cigarette butts, several empty beer bottles, and another empty inhaler.
"Can I help you?" The man asks as he notices you looking into his alcove, stopping his preparations and draining one of the beer bottles with a final swig as he looks at you expectantly.

"Hope so," Li Fei answers curtly, looking the man up and down as he takes his last swig. "You Eddie Wenters?"

"Eduardo," he corrects Li Fei. For a moment he eyes the two of you with suspicion, taking a phone from the table and pocketing it.
"What do you want?"

Li Fei narrows her eyes at the man as he pockets his phone. What, he think I'm going to walk off with it? Psh. I don't want to know where that thing has been.
She glances expectantly at Reiji, waiting for him to take the lead.

"We're looking for a truck, pretty distinctive one at that," Reiji begins, giving their target a quick once-over and crossing his arms. "Heard you might've seen it. Think you could help us out?"

Ryoko nods to the others, glancing briefly at the text sent by her cousin about the lax security. She glances around to see if there appears to be a good route to sneak past the bouncer.

"Hey, look - I'm no snitch," Wenters says holding up his hands .
"If you need a new VIN, new plates, cracking a vehicle's firmware, whatever - I'm your guy, but if I'm anything other than good at what I do, I am discrete. A lot of my employers like to keep things on the down low, and they're not the sort of people you want to mess with," he says, somehow managing to turn dismissing your question into something resembling a sales pitch.
Watching the bouncer during your time perched at the bar, you have noticed he has not moved much from his post stood by the door and would be hard to sneak by as a result. However with the lighting, crowd and noise of the dancefloor, it seems like it would be relatively easy to sneak past him should something distract him and move him further from the door.

"I get that, Eduardo, I do," Reiji says, putting his hands up in a level of resignation.
"But in this case, your employers were far from discrete, even if you are. That's kinda unfair, no? Expecting your discretion when they're the ones swiping a bright pink truck owned by a corpo exec. They knew someone would come asking, but still wrapped you up in it." Maybe can make him realize he's a pawn and he'll turn against them.

Wenters lets out a heavy sigh.
"Ok but you didn't get any of this from me right?" He says, grabbing a beer bottle from the table and pausing to take a large swig.
"So these smugglers from up in Northlake - The Northlake Outfit - hired me to clean up a truck they stole. Make it untraceable - I guess to sell it on. Not really their usual line of work, but who am I to judge? Anything to make a buck right?" He explains, talking quickly as he rattles through the details of the story.
"Anyway, I finished up working on it yesterday. They had it in some delivery company place, a front, down by the river. Quick Drop, that was it," he says, pulling out his phone from his pocket and showing you a pin on a map of Hawthorne.
"Here - now remember, we never met," he adds, looking to you for reassurances.

Li Fei raises an eyebrow as Reiji's angle proves successful. "We were never here," she affirms, noting down the Quick Drop on her own phone. She taps Reiji on the elbow gently. "Let's go." She murmurs a word of thanks to Wenters before heading back toward the stairs.
They might've moved it already, but at least we're one step closer.

Reiji cracks a smirk as their contact spills the details and gives them a better lead. Discrete, unless a smooth talker rolls up. Good thing his employers won't find out about this. He gives a nod and a wave to Eduardo, wordlessly stepping away with Li Fei.

Only a few minutes after talking their way in, Li Fei and Reiji make their way back upstairs, the doorman stepping aside as they emerge from the venue's subterranean drug den, assuming they were successful in preventing Wenters from exiting the Empress in a body bag after his alleged overdose. They head back over to the bar and rejoin Kindred, Ryoko and Elodie.

Li Fei continues past the bouncer, clutching her medical bag and giving the man a bored look. She makes her way over to the others with Reiji.
"Northlake paid Wenters to scrub the truck's record, make it untraceable. Sounds like they're looking to sell the pink shitbox. The whole thing's odd, considering these guys aren't the usual type to steal and flip vehicles. Anyways, our guy said Northlake was storing it at a delivery company down by the river. Quick Drop." She shares the location with a flick of her smartphone.

"Yep. No guarantee it's still there, but it's a lead. Gotta be some evidence left behind or something," Reiji chimes in with a nod. Damn, feels like one of those crime shows. Get the evidence to the lab and run for prints. Heh.

"Thank you for getting that information." Elodie notes down Eduardo's name and his habit of fixing cars for crime rings. Something is up with that car. I really need to give it a good look once we've got it, she decides. "Then, shall we take our leave?"

"Yeah," Li Fei agrees, eager to get to their next lead. "Let's move. Hey, lemme get a lift this time." She taps Reiji's arm. "That cool?" she asks, glancing between him and his cousin.
The detective and his assistant are nice and all, I guess, but they're hardly my speed. I wanna see Helmet Guy's bike, see if he's a poser or the real thing. Plus, I'm sick of riding that piss-soaked bus.

"You guys work fast," Ryoko says, shrugging as her plans to slip by the bouncer prove unnecessary. She frowns as Li Fei requests a ride from Reiji, but shrugs. "Only fair," she continues, turning to Elodie. "I don't suppose you'd mind lending me bus fare til we get paid for this, huh?" Need to get wheels of my own soon, this lack of transportation is getting old.

"Deal, but don't blame me if you get helmet hair," Reiji says, flashing a smirk toward Li Fei. "Beats bugs in your teeth though." Love my bike, but damn I wish we had a car right about now. Maybe can find something cheap at a used lot. Doesn't need to look pretty, but... well, I don't wanna be driving a piece of crap so yes it does.

"No need," Li Fei says, sliding her bus pass out of a pocket of her paramedic coat and tossing it over to Ryoko.
"They don't ever check it anyways."
She rolls her eyes at Reiji's smirk as she walks past him, looking to leave.
The New Sevastopol Rapid Transit Pass is printed with the name Kiara Gregory, and has a low-quality photo of Li Fei's face. Her hair is shorter in a pixie cut, and she looks a few years younger based on the more mousy features.

"Well it doesn't look like me at all," Ryoko says, gazing at the pass, then back at Li Fei. "But if they won't check then I guess it won't matter," she says, shrugging as she tucks it into a pocket. Hopefully these two are good conversations, at least, she thinks as she glances to the detective and his assistant.

With the transit authority unapproved transfer of bus pass complete, you leave the Empress and make your way across Hawthorne towards the East River and the Quick Drop location.
You arrive as the sun has begun to set, its rays painting the sky a vibrant mix of purples and oranges through the ever present haze of pollution that sits over the city, reassembling across the street from your target building.
The Quick Drop distribution centre is a low, squat structure built to maximize efficiency and minimize both expense and attention. It blends in seamlessly with dozens of other, similar, warehouses in this industrial area of the city. The front of the building appears to be a few small offices, while the rear is a large, square, warehouse. The building's perimeter is guarded by a chain-link fence.
On the East side of the building, a protrusion from the structure appears to be a large air filtration system of some kind. Quick Drop’s worn logo appears to one side of the main entrance, a pair of double doors that look securely locked.

"Guess they've closed shop for that day," Reiji says, squinting into the hazy dusklight as he looks over the building before them. "Anyone in for a little B and E? Even if the truck's gone by now, might be a paper trail or some cam feed we could tap into." Bound to be a door some careless prick left unlocked, right?

Li Fei steps off Reiji's bike, glad to not have to ride the bus for once.
"Thanks," she says flatly, before they soon regroup with the others. She makes sure to take the bus pass back from Ryoko.
"You see a way in?" Li Fei asks, her eyes following the chain-link fence.
"Those doors look sturdy but check that out." She points toward the large protrusion on the building.
"Air ducts. Might be less secure."
Do I see any cameras, keypads on doors?

"Could always hop the fence and see if there's another way in," Reiji says, eyeing the chain-link perimeter. Of course Mr. Detective doesn't look as spry, but maybe he'd surprise us.
"Or, worse comes to worse, there's the timeless universal key: a brick through the window."

No visible cameras and from this distance you are able to spot a keypad on the door.

"Keypad on the door, probably not even networked. I could crack it open in a flash," Li Fei boasts. She approaches the chain link fence, gauging its height.
Str/Exert to get over?
Anyone else have wire-clippers? Could that be something I might have in a cyberdoc bag for trimming cyber hardware wires?

Yes Str/Exert to climb the fence.
Ryoko does have an Advanced Sword that would be able to cut through the fence.

Li Fei winces at the height of the fence, instead cocking a glance back at the others. Noticing the sheathed blade on Ryoko's back, her eyebrows raise. "Think you could get us in?"

Ryoko nods and draws her blade. With a single fluid motion she carves through the fence, the katana's enhanced micro edge slicing the links in half, opening up a human sized gash in the fence.
"Open sesame," Ryoko says, sheathing her sword as she steps back from the hole.
"Maybe leave the B&E out of your notes Miss Lind, should our lead prove to be a false one," Kindred says, pulling the fence apart slightly and stepping through into the compound.
"Noted," Elodie replies, pocketing her notebook, and following after her boss who pauses to hold the fence for her.

She cut through that fence like it was butter, Li Fei considers, watching the enforcer work.
I'd hate to be a mook on the other end of that blade. She slides through the gap in the fence after Miss Lind.
"Cover me while I get to work on that keypad." She moves toward it in measured steps, taking her cyberdeck out of her oversized coat and snaking the wire out from its hardshell.

It only takes Li Fei a few moments to crack the rudimentary lock on the doors. The light on the keypad flicks from red to green and you hear the click of the door as it unlocks.
Stepping through the doors, you find yourselves in a the building's L-shaped lobby. A pair of couches and low coffee tables flank the main entrance, while ahead of you, in front of a set of large double doors, sits a desk. As you enter a man sat at the desk looks up from a computer screen.
"Hey! How did you get in? You can't be here," he says firmly, standing up from his seat. He is dressed in a security uniform, a pistol on his hip, however his arms are heavily tattooed and he carries himself with more swagger than you would expect of a typical 9-5 rent-a-cop.

"You're paying by the minute for this, Carlotta," she whines, glancing back at the pristinely dressed Elodie.
"And tell your guard dog to stand down."
She points toward the double-doors.
"Is it this way to the server room?" Li Fei asks, looking between Elodie and the mook, hardly waiting for a response from either as she paces towards the doors.

Damn, they hired some muscle. Guess they've got more than a few secrets. Reiji eyes the guard uneasily, fixating on the pistol for a moment before stepping up.
"We're paid to be here," Reiji says, cocking his head toward their would-be exec.
"Surprised they didn't send a memo, but you know how much of a clusterfuck management is." He turns to Li Fei, adding matter-of-factly,
"Got a call that the servers were on the fritz. Connection been a bit sluggish lately, yeah?"

Elodie goes to speak, following Reiji and Li Fei's lead, but the guard cuts her off. "I don't know anything about that. You all need to leave right now," he says, placing one hand on his gun while he keys a radio with the other. "Intruders, front entrance," he says into the radio, eying you with suspicion.

Well fuck. Reiji winces, instinctively reaching for the pistol tucked into his waistband. Though mostly a deterrent against the city's not-uncommon muggings, he'd used it once or twice in the past.
Bet this fucker used to be a cop. First instinct is to pull out his gun?

Wrong move, Ryoko thinks, as the guard sees past their ruse and draws his gun. As he does so she reaches for her own pistol with her left hand, while removing her katana from her back with her right. She steps a bit forward, looking to put herself between him and her new companions, not expecting any of them to be as tough to take down as herself. She activates her gunlink and takes aim, ready to fire at a moment's notice.
Hopefully not too much backup on the other end of that line though.

Well, our luck had to run out at some point. Elodie sighs. Despite everyone's best efforts, there doesn't seem to be any real way out of fighting this time. As good as an assistant she is, that is the main area in which she falls short. She calmly takes a few steps so that she is now standing behind Kindred - he's always managed to keep her safe enough, and she's confident she'll be fine this time around too. She reaches for the pistol she always carries with her just in case and braces herself.

Shit, shit, shit. Us or him, I guess. Reiji grimaces, drawing his pistol and taking aim at the security guard. After a brief moment of hesitation, he pulls the trigger.
His ears ring, and blurry vision fades into clarity as he watches the stain of blood grow across the guard's uniform.
"Fuck," he says as reality sets in.
It's so fucking easy in shooter games. But... we had to. He tucks his pistol back in, wiping his sweaty grip on his jeans.
"Let's... let's get moving."

Elodie tenses up for a second when she sees the guard slowly sink on the floor, but pulls herself together immediately. Never a pleasant sight. Without missing a beat, she stops reaching for her own gun and follows her boss to the dead guard, taking the pistol and radio from his now lifeless hands. She wipes the bit of blood that has gotten on her hands in the process off using the guard's clothes and makes sure that Kindred can see her take the items. Anything we have, they can't use.

Kindred quickly rummages through the guard's pockets, finding $40, a spare magazine for his heavy pistol, and a dose of the street drug Ambrosia, while Elodie grabs the fallen guard's weapon and radio.
As the investigative duo search the body, the door to the right of the lobby is thrown open. Another man dressed in a guard uniform takes aim at Kindred and fires a shot before taking cover around the doorway. The ballistic computer in Kindred's arm tracks the shot and moves his right arm into its path, the kinetic absorption plates implanted under his skin taking most of the impact of the bullet and deflecting it harmlessly away, before the detective even has time to realise he has been shot at.

Li Fei lets out an uneasy breath as Reiji drops the guard. When the far door is thrown open and another shot rings out, she carefully fires back over her companions' lowered heads — though their assailant's cover protects him for now.
Lowering her rifle, the young woman rushes past the first casualty toward the computer terminal.
How many of these mooks are there? The higher the headcount, the dirtier the operation. She zips out her cyberjack cords from her deck, adhering one to her temple and one to the terminal's box below the desk, keeping her head low to reduce the chance of a bullet finding it.

Good job, cuz, Ryoko thinks, a small smirk appearing on her face as Reiji quickly ends the guard's life. However, her head immediately turns towards the nearby doorway before she has a chance to congratulate him, her eyes focusing in on the source of the second gunshot. Her gunlink activates as she raises her arm to fire, sending a 3rd bullet ringing through the air towards the second guardsman. As soon as the shot leaves the barrel, she rushes forward and crouches next to the table, lining up a second shot towards the doorway.
Main Action: shoot at second guard,
[1d20+3]=2+3=5 = miss...
Instant Action: reroll shot,
[1d20+3]=16+3=19 vs ranged AC = hit, presumably. Trauma roll =
[1d8]=5. Damage =
[1d6+2]=2+2=4 (x2 if a traumatic hit)
Move Action: move four squares to the right, to (R, 29), taking cover behind the table

THROWABLES
Flash Grenade
1d20+4 to hit (bounce 1d10 meters on miss), 10m/30m range, 5m radius
Effect: targets without sufficient protection make a physical save. On a failure to save, affected targets lose their next Main Action and take -2 to hit and to AC for 1d6 rounds. Effect does not stack, and cannot be applied more than once in the same round.
Remaining
: 1/1
Gas Grenade
1d20+4 to hit (bounce 1d10 meters on miss), 1d10 non-lethal damage, 10m/30m range, 5m radius
Effect: creates a zone in affected 10m diameter that damages all targets within, then dissipates in 1 round. A successful physical save halves the damage, and breathing protection prevents damage entirely. Creatures in the zone gain full concealment until the gas dissipates, except against creatures with IR or augmented vision.

* I treat all enemy AC as 10 for the purposes of shock, assuming they are not immune to shock entirely

EDGES
Wired: You may begin play with up to $200,000 worth of new or secondhand cyber. You don’t need to pay for installation and its maintenance is covered for the next two months. You can redeem this Edge later in your career by paying double the cost of the cyber you selected; if so, you can trade this Edge in for a different one with the GM’s approval.
On Target: Gain shoot-0 as a bonus skill. Your basic attack bonus is equal to your character level, instead of the usual half level, rounded down.
FOCI
Shocking Assault-1: Gain stab-1 as a bonus skill. The Shock damage of your weapon treats all targets as if they were AC 10, assuming your weapon is capable of harming the target in the first place and the target is not immune to Shock.
Emergency Stabilization Factor
$30k | Body | Medical | Sys. Strain 1
Effect: When brought to zero hit points by an injury that does not instantly kill them, the user automatically stabilizes, gaining one System Strain, and will regain consciousness at the end of the scene with 1 hit point. If they are already at maximum strain, this cyberware does not function.
Dermal Armor II
$80k | Skin | Touch | Sys. Strain 2
Effect: Heavier subcutaneous plating acts as Dermal Armor I with a base ranged and melee AC of 18, and +1 to trauma target. In addition, the user can ignore the first instance of Shock in a round.
Muscle Fiber Replacement I
$50k | Limb | Touch | Sys. Strain 1
Effect: Artificial muscle fibers are implanted as replacements for the user’s own flesh. The subject gains a Strength score of 14, or +2 if already 14 or higher.
Cybereyes (pair)
$10k | Sensory | Touch | Sys. Strain 0.25
Effect: These cybereyes are clearly artificial, though most are styled in attractive or striking fashions. They all have perfect 20/20 vision and integral flash protectors, but additional functionality must be implanted separately. A user with a pair of cybereyes or syntheyes halves the System Strain cost of cybernetic eye implants.
Eye Mod/Infrared Vision
$5k | Sensory | Medical | Sys. Strain 0.25 (0.5 halved)
Effect: The infrared vision this mod allows permits basic navigation in dark areas and makes the presence of heat sources such as humans, engines, and infrared tripwires very obvious. The user gains a +1 bonus on any Notice checks to detect the presence of thermally-unshielded living creatures.
Gunlink
$25k | Sensory | Touch | Sys. Strain 1
Effect: Hardwired control points interface with the onboard targeting systems of most modern firearms. When using a modern firearm, the PC ignores range penalties and negates up to 2 points of hit penalties for cover, concealment, or prone targets. Once per scene, as an Instant action, they can reroll a missed attack roll with a gun.

ACQUAINTANCES
Ephraim Dulac: the man who was once Ryoko's squad leader for her enforcer group with in Arabashi Ltd. They've known each other for years, and though they've never been close outside work, they've always shared a bond of trust one would expect of their brothers and sisters in arms. He knows that Ryoko was only fired due to her outspoken distaste for Dynamism, and that he has only remained employed because he was more careful about revealing his similar sentiments. As such, he still views Ryoko with respect and is willing to aid her within reason.
Lil Scotty: a skilled hacker who is a low-ranking member of the 3189 Crew. Ryoko met him doing a security detail for the gang, and helped protect him from some Blood Horde members he tried to pawn some intel off on. He now sees Ryoko as his guardian angel who can keep him safe from his seedy tendencies, and tries to call on her aid more than she'd like. The last time she helped him, she told him off for his lack of discretion and general disloyalty to the 3189, seeing it as a fast way for him to end up dead. Despite her annoyance with the man, she does see him as a useful person to know, as having a contact within the 3189 helps her get new jobs and firmware from the group.

As Li Fei and Ryoko shoot and reposition, with Ryoko's bullet catching the man in the chest and dropping him, one of the two double doors on the back wall of the lobby is thrown open. Inside, a large warehouse area is littered with parked cars in various states of disrepair and disassembly. Two heavily tattooed men dressed in gang street leathers, are visible to those with a view through the now open door.
The closest man, the one who opened the door, takes aim at Elodie, the closest of your group to him, and fires a shot at the ex-idol, which cracks as it wizzes narrowly past her head.
Go: KIndred, Reiji and Elodie
Li Fei: shoots, misses, moves, jacks in.
Ryoko: shoots, misses, rerolls, hits, kills, moves.
Ganger 1: Moves, opens door, shoots at Elodie, 13 vs ranged AC = hit for 3 damage (2 soak, 1 HP), trauma die roll 3 = not a traumatic hit.
Squares are 2m x 2m.

My fans don't have any special skills but can do anything ordinary workers or civilians would. Once per month, I can mobilize them for donations or merch purchases, getting up to $1,000 per character level. This is doubled at 5th level and quadrupled at 10th level.
Pop Idol Level 2: I can mobilize up to a hundred fans per level, though large mobs might draw law enforcement. I have fan leaders who can pass along my wishes and conceal my involvement in the crowd. My donation and merch earnings are doubled. My Charisma modifier is increased by +1, to a max of +2.
