Elodie hisses softly as the bullet scrapes her. Her grip on the pistol she just retrieved from the guard tightens and she turns towards the man who fired at her. She doesn't really want to shoot him, even though his shot hurt her first, but there's no other way to do this.
You're a professional, Lind. Just pretend it's part of a show if you have to. It's a silly coping mechanism that she uses occasionally, and it really helps sometimes. But it's hard to stick to the illusion that it's all fake once she pulls the trigger and realizes that this bullet is definitely going to hit the man.

EDGES
Face: Gain Connect as a bonus skill. Once per game week, whenever it’s convenient, gain one temporary Acquaintance Contact of your choice, describing them in any way the GM finds acceptable. You lose touch with this Contact after you use this Edge again, but you can use this Edge to connect with them again at a different time. You may also provide favors or payment sufficient to
cement the relationship at the GM’s discretion.
Voice of the people: You are a rocker, graffiti artist, poet, demagogue, or other rabble-rouser with a considerable reputation. You gain both levels of the Pop Idol Focus and an additional Friend Contact related to your art.
FOCI
Authority: You have an uncanny kind of charisma about you, one that makes others instinctively follow your instructions and further your causes. Where this Focus refers to followers, it means NPCs who have voluntarily chosen to be in your service. PCs never count as followers.
Level 1: Gain Lead as a bonus skill. Once per day, you can make a request from an NPC who is not openly hostile to you, rolling a Cha/Lead skill check at a difficulty of the NPC’s Morale score. If you succeed, they will comply with the request, provided it is not harmful or very uncharacteristic.
Pop Idol (through Voice of the People: Whether a street musician, graffiti artist, underground journalist, cam girl, folk singer, or Robin Hood-esque thief, you have a devoted following of enthusiasts who are willing to help you when you need them.
Level 1: Gain Perform as a bonus skill. Once per game week, with an hour or so of messaging, you can mobilize about a hundred of your fans to perform some act of your choice, provided it’s no more than mildly criminal or slightly dangerous. Flashmobs, getaway drivers, scouting reports, tailing people, or instant parties might all qualify as services. Your fans don’t have any special skills, but they’ll do anything ordinary workers or civilians could do. If you mobilize them for donations or merch purchases, you get $1,000 per character level, doubled at fifth level and quadrupled at tenth. You can’t mobilize them to buy your content more than once per month.
Level 2: You can mobilize up to a hundred fans per character level, though major mobs are likely to draw a law enforcement response. You’ve cultivated fan leaders who can pass along your wishes deniably, concealing your involvement in the crowd. Your donation and merch earning amounts double. Your Charisma modifier increases by +1, to a maximum of +2.

FRIENDS
Elodie's most important friend is Meredith Skyler, a 58 year old woman with long curly hair who is always dressed in a sharp suit. She was Elodie's manager back in the day and stood up for her when she was fired. Meredith is one of the top managers of Galaxy Express, Elodie's old label, and thus still has many contacts in the industry.
ACQUAINTANCES
1. Nolan Maxwell, a 72 year old retired PI whose most striking physical characteristic is his huge moustache. He was Elodie's employer and they still keep in contact occasionally after he retired. He still has some contacts with the Hawthorne police, as he used to work with them quite a lot back in the day.
2. Lian Zhang, 35, and one of Elodie's old background dancers when she was still touring. They now teach dancing in Northlake to the children and the few adults that have the time to spare in the gated company town of Falcon Financial. And as people tend to get a bit... looser within their own company town, it means that Lian occasionally catches the interesting bit of Falcon gossip, either straight from the parents or via their children.

Li Fei panics as the double-doors swing open, bringing two more gunmen on her flank. Her dropped cyberdeck clatters to the floor as she spins from her kneeling position, training her rifle on the man Elodie winged.
What the hell kind of low-end chop shop is this? she wonders, pressing the trigger — barrel aimed center-mass.

As you return fire, Elodie's bullet grazes the ganger, however the kick of Li Fei's rifle moves her aim slightly higher than intended, causing the round to hit the ganger square in the head. It exits out the back, spraying bone fragments and brain matter across the concrete floor as the man's lifeless body falls to the ground.
Go: KIndred
Reiji: shoots, misses, moves.
Elodie: shoots, hits, traumatic damage x3, moves.

Veteran's luck: Once per scene, as an Instant action, trigger this ability to gain one of two effects: an attack roll that just hit you is instead treated as a miss, or an attack roll you just made that missed is instead treated as a hit. This ability can be applied to vehicle weapons used by the operator, but it cannot protect against environmental damage, vehicle crashes, falls, or other harm that doesn’t involve an attack roll.
Wired:
You may begin play with up to $200,000 worth of new or secondhand cyber. If secondhand, you roll once per system for its defect and may end up with unusable junk. You don’t need to pay for installation and its maintenance is covered for the next two months. You can redeem this Edge later in your career by paying double the cost of the cyber you selected; if so, you can trade this Edge in for a different one with the GM’s approval. See page 27 for example packages of cyber you might pick to suit your character’s concept.
FOCI
Alert: Description
You are keenly aware of your surroundings and virtually impossible to take unaware. You have an instinctive alacrity of response that helps you act before less wary persons can think to move.
Level 1: Gain Notice as a bonus skill. You cannot be surprised, nor can others use the Execution Attack option on you. When your group rolls initiative, your vigilance allows them to roll twice and take the higher roll.

Cranial Jack

Effect:A discreetly-placed plug socket in the user’s head or neck allows interfacing with cyberdecks and gear equipped with a jack line.
Iron Hand Aegis
40k| Limb| Touch| 1
Effect: Absorption plates and kinetic ablation units are implanted in the user’s arms and linked with a reactive ballistic calculator. Once per scene, as an Instant action, the user can deflect a successful ranged bullet, arrow, or thrown weapon attack, including burst or suppressive fire. Surprise attacks cannot be deflected this way, nor can melee attacks or explosives.
Active Sense Processor
50k | Sensory | Medical | 1
Effect: Augmented sensory processing grants a +1 Wisdom modifier for all skill checks involving sensing or noticing things, up to a +2 modifier maximum.
Cybereys (pair)
10k | Sensory | Touch | 0.25
Effect: While a single cybernetic eye can be implanted, it is recommended that both be replaced at the same time to improve neural adaptation. These cybereyes are clearly artificial, though most are styled in attractive or striking fashions. They all have perfect 20/20 vision and integral flash protectors, but additional functionality must be implanted separately. A user with a pair of cybereyes or syntheyes halves the System Strain cost of cybernetic eye implants.
Ear Mod/Filter
10k | Sensory | Medical | 0.5
Effect: The user’s sense of hearing is sharpened remarkably, allowing them to follow individual conversations in a noisy crowd, eavesdrop on whispers up to twenty meters distant, and gain a +2 bonus on all hearing-related Notice checks.
Eye Mod/Low Light Vision
5k | Sensory| Medical| 0.25* halved from 0.5
Effect: This mod grants low-light vision, allowing clear sight to normal distances in any light condition better than pitch blackness.
Eye Mod/Tactical View
10k | Sensory | Medical| 0.25* halved from 0.5
Effect: These eyes can receive text or video transmissions and play them on an inset in the user’s normal vision. Outline and pattern
discrimination is enhanced; when specifically looking for things or keeping watch, gain a +1 bonus to any relevant Notice check.
Eye Mod/Zoom
10k | Sensory | Medical| 0.25* halved from 0.5
Effect: The user’s vision can zoom in on distant targets. The user can see objects within 500 meters as if they were standing next to them. The hit penalty for a ranged weapon’s long range is eliminated
Sensory Recorder
10k| Sensory| Medical | 0.5
Effect: The user can record up to 180 minutes of sensory input. If they have a jack line into a transmitter or cyberware capable of transmitting data, they can share these recordings in real time or afterwards.
Coordination Augment I
50k | Nerve | Medical| 2
Effect: The user’s natural mindbody interface is tightened. The subject gains a Dexterity score of 14, or +2 if already 14 or higher.

Seeing the back of their comrade's head explode, followed by further gun fire aimed in their direction. The ganger darts behind the car closest to them, before hurriedly sprinting across the garage towards the Northeastern corner.
Jacking into the terminal, you find your avatar in an 8-bit dungeon, reminiscent of an old first person rpg video game. Three paths lead deeper into the dungeon, with no signs of any barriers or demons. As for this node, you see nothing of any use or value, it merely seems to exist to allow access to the network.

A pang of nausea whirls inside Li Fei's belly as she brains the ganger. It isn't her first time defending herself — after all, New Sevastopol demands such at minimum — but then again, she's more familiar rearranging organs rather than pulverizing them.
That was really gross. Even I couldn't put that guy back together after that, she concludes, scrabbling for her cyberdeck once more.
Directing her avatar, Li Fei advances for one of the seemingly undefended nodes before her in cyberspace.

Moving nodes, you find yourself in a gaol, the walls of the dungeon here lined with cells, which appear to be connections to the nodes for various cameras across the facility. Another path leads deeper into the dungeon, while a couple of 2d icons float in front of you spinning on their axis like pickups in a video game. One, a scroll, appears to be a datafile of some kind, whilst the others, a sword and an eye, seem to be the controls for the alarms and cameras.

THROWABLES
Flash Grenade
1d20+4 to hit (bounce 1d10 meters on miss), 10m/30m range, 5m radius
Effect: targets without sufficient protection make a physical save. On a failure to save, affected targets lose their next Main Action and take -2 to hit and to AC for 1d6 rounds. Effect does not stack, and cannot be applied more than once in the same round.
Remaining
: 1/1
Gas Grenade
1d20+4 to hit (bounce 1d10 meters on miss), 1d10 non-lethal damage, 10m/30m range, 5m radius
Effect: creates a zone in affected 10m diameter that damages all targets within, then dissipates in 1 round. A successful physical save halves the damage, and breathing protection prevents damage entirely. Creatures in the zone gain full concealment until the gas dissipates, except against creatures with IR or augmented vision.

Wired: You may begin play with up to $200,000 worth of new or secondhand cyber. You don’t need to pay for installation and its maintenance is covered for the next two months. You can redeem this Edge later in your career by paying double the cost of the cyber you selected; if so, you can trade this Edge in for a different one with the GM’s approval.
On Target: Gain shoot-0 as a bonus skill. Your basic attack bonus is equal to your character level, instead of the usual half level, rounded down.
FOCI
Shocking Assault-1: Gain stab-1 as a bonus skill. The Shock damage of your weapon treats all targets as if they were AC 10, assuming your weapon is capable of harming the target in the first place and the target is not immune to Shock.
Emergency Stabilization Factor
$30k | Body | Medical | Sys. Strain 1
Effect: When brought to zero hit points by an injury that does not instantly kill them, the user automatically stabilizes, gaining one System Strain, and will regain consciousness at the end of the scene with 1 hit point. If they are already at maximum strain, this cyberware does not function.
Dermal Armor II
$80k | Skin | Touch | Sys. Strain 2
Effect: Heavier subcutaneous plating acts as Dermal Armor I with a base ranged and melee AC of 18, and +1 to trauma target. In addition, the user can ignore the first instance of Shock in a round.
Muscle Fiber Replacement I
$50k | Limb | Touch | Sys. Strain 1
Effect: Artificial muscle fibers are implanted as replacements for the user’s own flesh. The subject gains a Strength score of 14, or +2 if already 14 or higher.
Cybereyes (pair)
$10k | Sensory | Touch | Sys. Strain 0.25
Effect: These cybereyes are clearly artificial, though most are styled in attractive or striking fashions. They all have perfect 20/20 vision and integral flash protectors, but additional functionality must be implanted separately. A user with a pair of cybereyes or syntheyes halves the System Strain cost of cybernetic eye implants.
Eye Mod/Infrared Vision
$5k | Sensory | Medical | Sys. Strain 0.25 (0.5 halved)
Effect: The infrared vision this mod allows permits basic navigation in dark areas and makes the presence of heat sources such as humans, engines, and infrared tripwires very obvious. The user gains a +1 bonus on any Notice checks to detect the presence of thermally-unshielded living creatures.
Gunlink
$25k | Sensory | Touch | Sys. Strain 1
Effect: Hardwired control points interface with the onboard targeting systems of most modern firearms. When using a modern firearm, the PC ignores range penalties and negates up to 2 points of hit penalties for cover, concealment, or prone targets. Once per scene, as an Instant action, they can reroll a missed attack roll with a gun.

They've known each other for years, and though they've never been close outside work, they've always shared a bond of trust one would expect of their brothers and sisters in arms. He knows that Ryoko was only fired due to her outspoken distaste for Dynamism, and that he has only remained employed because he was more careful about revealing his similar sentiments. As such, he still views Ryoko with respect and is willing to aid her within reason.
Lil Scotty: a skilled hacker who is a low-ranking member of the 3189 Crew. Ryoko met him doing a security detail for the gang, and helped protect him from some Blood Horde members he tried to pawn some intel off on. He now sees Ryoko as his guardian angel who can keep him safe from his seedy tendencies, and tries to call on her aid more than she'd like. The last time she helped him, she told him off for his lack of discretion and general disloyalty to the 3189, seeing it as a fast way for him to end up dead. Despite her annoyance with the man, she does see him as a useful person to know, as having a contact within the 3189 helps her get new jobs and firmware from the group.

Running your program, the data contained within the datafile begins to spill out into the cyberspace surrounding you. It seems only the footage for the last 24 hours are held on the network, but you can scan through the feeds for all four cameras in the facility.
The lobby camera feed shows various gangers coming and going throughout the day via the main lobby. While another shows a couple more gangers toiling away in a small laboratory. The camera in the garage, shows the pink Trailblazer sat near the Easternmost roller door while some more of the gangers work loading up vehicles that come and go throughout the day with packages delivered from the lab.
In addition to the camera feeds, the datafile appears to contain files and messages relating to the North Lake Outfit's smuggling operations in Hawthorne.
One message stands out in particular as it appears.
“...I don’t care what you think. I’m not paying you unless you do it the way I want you to. We need to bring in more Ambrosia to supply the demand on the street. My supplier's quality is like nothing the peons can get outside of Hawthorne. Increase your shipments and bribe the cops if you have to. My Trailblazer has a compartment for this kind of thing. Use it you imbeciles or I’ll never give you another dime.” - A
A follow up message is appended;
“Does she think we’re fools? If she won’t pay us for risking our necks running Ambrosia than take the truck from her and we’ll sell it to the highest bidder. What’s she going to do, call the cops? She’s knee deep in unregulated pharms... We’ll run them all right, but not for her.”

As he watches the remaining foe dart further into the garage, Reiji spots a glint of familiar pink.
"Hey, that's our truck!" he says, pointing ahead for the others. He steps closer to the door, careful to avoid any desperate shots from the fleeing gang member.
May as well let Ryoko finish this off, right? Wonder if she's ever said anything cliche like "I'm in pursuit" back in the day.

Veteran's luck: Once per scene, as an Instant action, trigger this ability to gain one of two effects: an attack roll that just hit you is instead treated as a miss, or an attack roll you just made that missed is instead treated as a hit.

As you move up to the doors into the garage, you hear the sound of the remaining ganger's footsteps followed by the sound of a door being thrown open. The door slams shut and the facility falls silent, except for the alarm which continues to sound.
A few moments later the radio Elodie picked up squawks into life.
<You still there Stalag? Anyone? We're ten minutes out,> the voice on the other end says.
Reiji: total defence, moves.
Kindred: stows item, moves.
Elodie: total defence, moves.

Stalag, Li Fei echoes. So that first shithead was the one who scammed those little punks outside the lockup?
"We got ten minutes to get the pink shitbox out of here," the street doc says. "Maybe we keep one of their other rigs as collateral."
"By the way, our employer was working with these idiots. Running drugs into the district in said shitbox. She tightened the yoke and they went rogue on her."

"Sounds about right," Ryoko says, letting out a defeated sigh as she returns her pistol to its holster. Two down, but one got away. Hopefully they're smart enough to let it be and disappear. "Lots of corrupt corpos, half of security is dealing with messes they made for themselves. Not a surprise our employer had a side hustle too."
Turning to Li Fei, she nods. "One for us, one for her; that works for me. No point sticking around here to get shot at some more. We already got one wounded." Stepping over towards Elodie, she eyes her recent bullet wound for severity. "You alright? We can bandage it up in the car."

"Beats you guys having to take the bus all the time," Reiji says with a smirk, proud at the cyberdoc's suggestion. "Might have to get it a fresher coat of paint though. I'll hook us up with my guy if we pull this off."
His eyes move between the radio and the garage. "But let's not stick around to meet the backup, yeah? Our employer can deal with the aftermath."

Li Fei unjacks from the computer terminal and her temple, letting the cords retract into her cyberdeck with a soft click. She casts a look of concern toward Elodie, having missed whatever crossfire might have gone the other woman's way.
"She's on her feet, so she's fine. I'll take a look at it on the road."
She makes for the double-doors into the depot, checking the pockets of the dead ganger before moving on to do the same to the other. The street doc does her best to avert her eyes from the violence she had caused — her father's rifle feeling uncharacteristically heavy, slung across her shoulder.
Unjack. Loot two dudes.

Entering the depot at the back of the facility through the double doors, Li Fei sees a number of cars in various states of disassembly and repair, including the pink Trailblazer belonging to Audrie Asher, which appears to be intact. A small living area, consisting of a makeshift gym and a couple of dirty mattresses for sleeping has been set up in one corner of the depot.
Searching the man she killed, Li Fei finds a heavy pistol with 7 rounds in magazine, a single dose of the corper combat chem Olympus, and a set of lock picks.
Moving to the next corpse, Li Fei steps over to the guard's body which lays in the doorway of the room to the side of the lobby. The room itself appears to be a security office which contains another workstation, what appears to be the facility's main server, the other end of the ventilation system visible from outside the building, and a large locker.
Rummaging through the guard's pockets Li Fei finds another handheld radio, another heavy pistol with 7 rounds in the magazine, and $20 in cash.
Li Fei gains;
Heavy Pistol (7/8) x2 (enc 2)
Olympus (enc 0)
Lockpicks (enc 1)
Handheld Radio (enc 1)
$20
Readied Encumbrance 8/5

Elodie wipes away the bit of blood on her cheek. She takes a quick look around, but to her relief, no one else seems to be hurt."I am fine, miss Ryoko. It's a small wound. But thank you for your concern." Though once we're done with our mission, I am finding the nearest karaoke booth and I am going to scream-sing my lungs out.
She follows Li Fei through the door and patiently waits until she's done checking the bodies. She double checks that there's absolutely no chance that the radio is picking up on her, then asks: "Miss Li Fei, I know our time is limited, but would you be able to give me any documentation proving that our client was working with these people? I'd like to have that information for... administrative purposes."

Yes... administrative purposes. Potential blackmail is the best tool to guarantee payment without hassle. Kindred thinks.

Li Fei makes quick work turning the bodies of the dead as if they were patients — though the premise of taking anything of value is a new and uncomfortable reflex for her.
Never know when a pair of these might come in handy, she considers, weighing the pair of heavy pistols before tossing them, loaded, into her pack. The cash, chems, and lockpicks follow suit, and she hooks the radio into the liner of her coat.
"Already one step ahead of you," the cyberdoc answers Elodie.
"I pulled everything I could off their server. As long as I don't catch a bullet through my deck, we've got our blackmail. Sorry, administrative documentation."
She nods towards the Trailblazer, turning back toward Reiji in particular.
"Who's driving what?"

"Reiji's still got his bike, so that leaves two of us per vehicle if we're snagging an extra," Ryoko says, turning to Li Fei. "I am assuming those two will be going together in one," she says, while motioning towards Kindred and Elodie, "so that leaves you and I to the other." Turning to her cousin, she asks, "Got any idea which other ride would be best? You seem the most knowledgeable about these sorts of things." Can't say cars are my forte, but not gonna say no to a free one of there's one to be had. We definitely need the means of transportation.

"I hope you're good behind the wheel. I've never learned," Li Fei admits, throwing up her hands. "I could take any one of these shitboxes apart and put it back together, though."
Well, technically there was that one time after the Academy. But I don't think accidentally driving a hotwired bus into a half-meter of solid steel bollard and then beating feet counts for much driving experience. Best not bring that one up.
Posted: Mon Dec 02, 2024 10:16 pm

I would assume Reiji's bike is parked and locked up legally a little ways up the street, so could be left here and retrieved between missions with ease, if required.

"I can always swing back and get my bike another time. Got her locked up safe," Reiji says, looking over the other cars in the garage.
"One of you take the truck though, yeah? It's not ours so won't matter if it ends up with a few dings and scratches. Plus we can just say we found it like that." He smirks, gaze darting between their other options in the depot.
Now let's see what ride can be ours.
What are the other cars like? How many does each seat?
Posted: Sat Dec 07, 2024 4:03 pm
by Namelessjake
The five other cars dotted around the depot, in addition to Asher's Trailblazer which could carry all five of you, consist of another similar pick-up truck of a different make, two more 5-seaters in the form of a taxi and a regular civilian car, and then two 2-seaters, a yellow sports car and a small white compact.
From the state of the depot, it does appear the North Lake Outfit were in the process of working on some of the vehicles so whether or not they are all in a drivable state remains to be seen.
Posted: Sat Dec 07, 2024 4:18 pm
by Scratcherclaw
"Much as I'd love to take that sports car for a joyride," Reiji begins, dejection taking over his tone. "A two-seater won't do us much good." Probably gets crappy mileage anyway. Drive five blocks and you're out of gas, and then you're fucked if there's traffic. He shakes his head, letting out a sigh, before looking toward the two five-seaters they have to choose from.
"Call me crazy, but I'd almost say we go with the cab. Looks like it's in pretty good condition and it's a pretty decent blank slate. Plus we could slip away undetected pretty easily til we give it our own touches. But I'm open to other suggestions."
Posted: Mon Dec 09, 2024 8:43 pm
by Fialova
"I was thinking the same," Ryoko says, nodding as she turns her eyes to the taxi. "It's unassuming, and might even have some hidden defenses built in if its service took on wealthier clients. And down the line, if we get into a situation where discretion is required, one of us can simply pose as a legitimate cab driver." Flashy is for executives and their spoiled spawn. The less we stand out, the better. It's no wonder that corpo got her ugly piece of shit truck stolen, it is too gaudy to miss.
Posted: Wed Dec 11, 2024 1:32 pm
by ratwizard
Legitimate, ha, Li Fei thinks, her eyes creasing with amusement.
There's not a damn thing in New Sev that qualifies as legitimate.
"Let's see if these dope-brains pulled out anything integral for functionality," the Red Devil says. She jogs toward the taxi, popping the hood open and poking her head in.
Posted: Wed Dec 11, 2024 5:51 pm
by Namelessjake
Popping the hood, you find everything more or less where you'd expect to see it. As far as you can tell, the vehicle should run if you can find the keys or hotwire it.
Posted: Wed Dec 11, 2024 5:59 pm
by ratwizard
"Hardly pretty under here, but everything's where it's supposed to be," Li Fei calls out from beneath the hood of the taxi. She slams it shut. "Somebody be a dear and look for those keys, yeah?"
Posted: Thu Dec 12, 2024 12:01 pm

"Might be in that security office," Reiji says, cocking his head in its direction. "Or hell, maybe even still in the car somewhere." He slides into the cab, wincing at the odor of vent-clip air freshener barely masking stale cigarette smoke. Yep, that's a taxi alright. Least this one doesn't smell like piss. Once behind the wheel, he looks in the usual spots, curious how predictable these would-be mechanics are. Let's see... Glove compartment, under the visor, under the floormat, center console. Those are pretty standard, right?
Posted: Thu Dec 12, 2024 4:29 pm
by Namelessjake
Your cursory search of the cab's interior fails to turn up the keys.
Posted: Thu Dec 12, 2024 8:22 pm
by Scratcherclaw
Welp. Guess when you steal cars, you're probably worried your employees will steal them too. Reiji sighs, sliding back out of the cab and walking toward the security office, hoping to find the keys for both vehicles there.
Posted: Mon Dec 16, 2024 4:02 pm
by Namelessjake
Reiji heads out of the garage, disappearing back into the depot's front of house.
Making your way through the carnage in the lobby, you step over the body lying in the doorway and into the security office. It contains another workstation, what appears to be the facility's main server, the other end of the ventilation system visible from outside the building, and a large weapons locker. On the back wall, behind the workstation, you spot a wooden board covered in small hooks, hanging from which are a selection of car keys.
Posted: Mon Dec 16, 2024 5:10 pm
by Scratcherclaw
Well well well, what have we here?" Reiji smirks, eyeing the weapons locker. He opens it as he walks past, catching a peek inside as he steps toward the keys. He scans through the keys, looking for any logos or emblems that might identify the cars.
Worse comes to worse, guess we try the fobs... if they even work.
Any indicator for which key goes to which car? And what's in the locker?
Posted: Mon Dec 16, 2024 5:26 pm
by Namelessjake
Opening the locker as you pass it, taking a cursory glance inside, you see a neatly folded jacket designed for riot control, 2 gas grenades and 2 flash grenades, a taser pistol and its ammo.
Looking at the keys, while any personal key chains or other decorations have been removed, leaving just the car keys themselves, most appear to bear the emblems of their various manufactures.
Make an Int/Drive check.

It takes you a few moments, but you are able to spot the stylized M that Manticore, the manufacturer of the Trailblazer, use as their logo. The taxi's key is a little harder to distinguish, but ruling out the keys belonging to the other cars in the garage, you are left with only one.
Posted: Mon Dec 16, 2024 5:50 pm
by Scratcherclaw
Reiji grabs the sets of keys, quickly shoving the assorted weaponry into his bag, and makes his way back to the garage. "Kay, who's driving the truck?" He says, holding out the Trailblazer's key for whoever takes it. "Cleaned out their weapons locker too, so let's not wait around for them to find that out." He steps over to the cab, putting the key in the ignition and making sure it starts.

Li Fei slams the cab's hood closed, coming around the side of it to hop in the passenger seat.
"Nice work, racer. No way I'm driving or even riding in that pink shitbox. That's on you guys," she calls out, her words directed at the others.
Especially if these gangers are out looking for it. I don't want to take a bullet today.
"I'll message you where to meet, then we can get in touch with Herkus D. Smerkus or whatever the fuck his name is."
Can I locate a mundane area on a GPS app, maybe a mile away that we can use as a meet point? Do I need to roll anything?

"Miss Lind," Kindred says, gesturing to the keys held aloft by Reiji. "I'll see about getting those doors open," the detective adds, making his way across the depot towards the roller doors that bar your way.
"It seems I am now a driver as well as an assistant," Elodie says, taking the keys from Reiji and stepping over to the Trailblazer. She climbs up into the pickup truck and starts its engine.
"Aha, got it!" Kindred proclaims as the rightmost roller door begins to ascend. Outside the sun has now fully set and the dark sky is illuminated by the many lights of the city. Kindred jogs back to the Trailblazer, hopping up into the passenger seat next to his assistant. As he does, you hear the sound of vehicles pulling up at the front of the building.

"Sounds like we got company out there!" Li Fei calls, leaning out the window of the cab. She turns to Ryoko, nodding toward the Trailblazer. "You should go with them. They'll need the firepower."
The Red Devil pulls herself back inside the cab, replacing the pair of spent rounds in her rifle with fresh ones from her deep pockets. "I'm no slouch with this thing, but it's not meant for spraying and praying. Let's draw them off the others, and then leave them in the dust. Sound good, Racer Boy?"

"Guess we'll see what kind of engine a fucking cab has, but should be easy enough to give them the slip," Reiji responds to the girl, buckling in and putting the car into drive. "Least these things are usually pretty reliable." Gotta be when they're running basically all day, every day. He waves Elodie forward, letting her lead so the duo might draw the attention of their pursuers.
"Buckle up, and find us a good station quick, yeah?" The racer cocks his head to the radio built into the center console. "Something good, not any of that crappy new stuff that just sounds like screaming and moaning with a synth." If I wanted to hear that, I'd go to a VR porn bar.

Ryoko hops into the Trailblazer and Elodie leads you out of the garage and out onto the street that runs along the back of the Quick Drop facility. You speed off, quickly putting a couple of blocks between you and the scene as you weave in and out of traffic. However, despite your getaway, you hear the roar of engines following you at speed. Looking back you can see you have a tail - two helmeted men on motorcycles along with another pickup truck, loaded up with gun toting gangers of the Northlake Outfit.

"We've got company," Reiji eyes, eyes briefly fixed in the rearview mirror.
Damn, didn't take them long to sniff us out. Now we just gotta lose 'em. He grips the steering wheel tighter, ready for the race of his life, knowing that it's actually on the line for once.
"See if you can take out those bikers. They're our biggest problem." Guess Elodie could always ram them though.

As the bikes and pickup give chase, Kindred rolls down his window and takes a shot at one of the pursuing motorcycles, however the violent swerving through traffic makes aiming hard.

"Yeah, yeah, safety first," Li Fei grumbles as she buckles up. She slaps the radio on, spinning the dial to one of the only stations left worth listening to:
757.2 RM-VAP. The crunchy, entropic mess of industrial metal fills the cab, its tinny speakers buzzing against the controversially mixed track.
"Look, I'll try, but I've got a semi-automatic weapon and that's a pretty small, moving target." The Red Devil leans out of the window, hardly bothering to aim down her sights, before firing a round off at their pursuers. She curses under her breath as she pulls herself back into cover.
"Can't you try and just, you know, fucking bump those guys off their crotch rockets?"
Li Fei lets her rifle fall to her lap as she tears her scrap deck out from a pocket, jamming its temporal jack into her skull. Peering out the window, she finds the pickup truck and the driver inside.
