[sblock=Renault]"THE HONORABLE AND DEVOUT FATHER RENAULT ST. CLAIRE," comes the booming voice of the announcer, as you enter the ballroom of the Dupuis Estate. The room is wider than it is deep, and ornately decorated. Carved pillars line the walls, with large paintings and tapestries lining the walls in between. The ground is a dazzling array of tiles formed into a large mosaic of fish swimming the sea, with an outer border that is more in a checkerboard pattern.
Straight ahead you see the grand staircase, where the twins are likely to descend from at midnight when they make their appearance. Various buffet tables line the wall at the far left side of the room as you enter, with many smaller round tables for seating taking up the left quarter of the floorspace. To the right, a band of live musicians play lovely tunes, perched on top of a stage that takes a similar amount of the floorspace as the tables. In the middle, roughly half of the room, is open area for guests to dance and mingle.
You descend the short steps into what is currently a mostly empty chamber, apart from the musicians and servants that are there to serve and entertain. A few attendees can be seen helping themselves to some food, and a few others are having conversations in the middle section of the room, but other than that the room is sparse.
Moments after you step in, before you've made it past the entry steps, the voice of the announces is heard once more behind you. "THE COURAGEOUS AND MAGNANIMOUS SISTER EMELINE," it shouts, as a somewhat familiar face descends the steps behind you. Though she'd never served with you, the woman had been staying at one of the rooms at the local cathedral in preparation for this night, before eventually continuing on for her next mission in Visha. You'd not spoken much, but she does seem to recognize you as she approaches.
"Ah, Father... Renault, was it? A pleasant surprise to see another member of the clergy at this function. I'd thought I'd need to spend the entire evening trying to find common ground with aristocrats." She greets you with a smile and a slight bow as she draws near. She wears a simple mask as well, colored white, though everything else about her is easily recognizable.[/sblock]
[sblock=Jacques]Many are arriving at the same time as you and Adrienne, so there is a bit of a line to get in when you approach. As you near the entrance to the ballroom, you can hear the announcer shouting his introductions to all inside. It is not long before you finally reach the doors and step through yourself, arms locked with your sister as you do.
"THE NOBLE AND CHARITABLE ENSIGN JACQUES ST.

Inside the room is clearly still filling up, but there are a decent number of guests already partaking of the food, or dancing together to the music. Some hold conversations around the edges of the room while various servants rush about, providing drinks and refreshments.
Looking around, it is hard to pick out anyone in particular from various masked figures that are the other party guests. However, shortly after you enter you hear the announcer once more, giving you a few names. "THE GENEROUS AND PIOUS PRINCE DAMIUS FULSEN OF TULRISSE, AND HIS FIANCEE THE LOVELY AND BENEVOLENT PRINCESS KATARINA D'ARCANGELI."
The royal pair descend the steps, both in ornate masks - Damius' blue and feathered, while Katarina's is multicolored and shaped like a butterfly - escorted by a woman in armor with a very plain, golden mask. Some turn to watch as they arrive, but many others simply continue what they are doing. As they draw closer Katarina motions for Damius to stop, eyeing Jacques up and down. "That is a very handsome ensemble. You must know all of the best places to shop in this lovely city, don't you?" she says, giving the man a polite smile.[/sblock]

Secret Shit You Know, Read First- [SHOW]
[sblock3=Seriously, Jakes Eyes Only][sblock4=I warned you...]You have an ulterior motive for being at this ball, apart from merely being your sister's +1. Through the grapevine of the Swords of Elys you've learned that one of the more hot-headed and violent members of the society, a Liutenant by the name of Hector Rainier, is planning to attend the ball. This came as an uninteresting surprise to all in the group, until they learned his motive.
Apparently Hector has learned that the Bishop of Imardin plans to make a surprise appearance at the ball, to recognize the Dupuis twins for their services to his city in the same way that the twins are recognizing their invitees. Hector has taken it upon himself to try to use this opportunity - where everyone is masked and anonymous - to try to assassinate the Bishop.
Your leader, the Admiral Anselm Bouchard, has ordered you - who was already planning to attend - to keep an eye out for Hector and do all in your power to stop him. While not necessarily fond of the Bishop, he does not want to risk such an assassination causing your order to be discovered by the rest of the navy or, worse, the Apostles.[/sblock4][/sblock3]
The pair of you arrive at the estate around 11pm, and it is clear that many others waited to come around this time as well. There is a line of carriages at the entrance, and after that a line leading into the ballroom as well. You can hear the announcer in the distance introducing the various guests, most of whom you do not recognize, though a few minutes before you reach the door you do hear mention of the famous Admiral, Felipe Depardieu.
"THE BEAUTIFUL AND COMPASSIONATE ALICIA DESROCHERS," comes the booming voice of the announcer, as you enter the ballroom of the Dupuis Estate.

In the middle, roughly half of the room, is open area for guests to dance and mingle.
Inside the room is quite full of party-goers, all masked and having a good time. Most tables near the buffet are full at this point, and much of the dance floor is already being used as well. The rim around the edge of the room still has many empty spots for people to stand and watch, though most are much more interested in the food and music.
Given the disguises - however loose they may be - it is not easy to tell who anyone is at first glance, especially with so many well-dressed figures flitting about the place. However, shortly after you enter you hear the announcer shout a name you do recognize.
"THE DILIGENT AND AMBITIOUS COMMODORE CANDICE ROSSO," comes the voice from behind, as the subject of Évrard's envy descends the stairs. She wears a flowing red dress and a white mask featuring a large rose made of cloth towards one side, partially serving as a corsage. As she nears, she looks you up and down, raising an eyebrow as she does. "A navy uniform would not be my first pick for such an event," she says, glancing to Alicia in expectation of agreement. "Your man is certainly quite proud of his station," she adds.[/sblock]
